Moses
Bust
–
Late Victorian bust, circa: 1890 – 1900. Hollow cast bust
with fine custom hand
painted details on the vial. The bust was damaged during a burglary.
During the
mold making process, the thickness on the
plaster was inconsistent. It is much
thinner at the back side. Reinforcement is
needed at the back side of the inner
bust, above the base to prevent the weight of the head to crack the
base while
being repaired. A composition of plaster, marble dust and
glue was made and
applied over a layer of burlap where needed for reinforcement.
Smaller
pieces were glued together, missing
pieces were made form plaster, marble dust and glue. Touch up and light
restoration of the clear lacquer.
